HAMILTON TIGERS EARLY DAYS

My name is John Dunn (jd) and I am a semi-retired mathematics teacher and an ardent Hamilton hockey and football fan. I have season's tickets to the Ticats (Box I) on the 55 yard line and also to the Bulldogs AHL hockey team. The main intent of this blog is to provide a forum for people who are interested in the Hamilton Tigers teams of yesteryear, in particular the teams before 1950, to exchange stories or pictures about the teams or players of those precious years. Much of my motivation for this project, I must admit, comes from the fact that my father Jimmy "RED" Dunn played for the Hamilton football Tigers and the Hamilton hockey Tigers in the 1930's and 1940's. He followed this with a career refereeing in the AHL and as a linesman in the NHL. You can see him in the picture of the 1935 Hamilton Tigers hockey team in the top bar of this intoductory page (back row - left) as well as other pictures posted in the accompanying blog. Blog posts will include the two championship teams of 1935, the Football Tigers who won the Eastern Canada championship and the Hockey Tigers who travelled to England and won the British Empire championship. Also included will be the story of Hamilton's NHL team in the years 1921 to 1925 and player profiles (football and hockey) and anecdotes from the Tigers early days. Jimmie Simpson, football star of this era will also be featured including peictures and stories of these teams. You may email me with coments/pictures/programs etc. using the contact us link at the top right of this page.
